Listen here to this week’s edition of The Blues Come Calling:

Well, here we are in the midst of our festivities, but still not forgetting this opportunity to wish you a very bluesy welcome to this week’s edition of The Blues Come Calling. As ever, we brought a whole hour of the best of the blues, with a selection of new releases, some forthcoming releases and some ‘seasoned’ favourites.

Among the new and forthcoming stuff was multi-instrumentalist, Michael Jerome Browne from Montreal, Australian band Lachy Doley with something from their album ‘Lovelight’, due for release in 2017 and Detroit bluesman Marcus Malone with his ‘Better Man’ album due for official release in April.

From the feedback on last week’s show, it seems you liked hearing from German duo, the Down Home Percolators, so we featured another track from their latest album ‘Homebrew’ and we revisited the new releases by Slim Butler, JW Jones and The Lost In Paris Blues Band . But, we kicked off there with a great opener from Deborah Coleman with ‘Travellin’ South’ . . .michael-jerome-browne

A big thanks went out this week to Phillipe Rodriguez down there in Limoges, in France for pointing us to a very fine live performance by the excellent Jim Byrnes with his take on ‘Crossroads Blues’ . . . and good stuff it was too!
There were a few memories conjured up again with some ‘seasoned’ favourites too, including Corey Harris, UK veterans Doc K’s Blues Band, The Siegal Schwall Band and harpman Rod Piazza. Indeed, there was plenty more we could have included, but we ran out of time. So, with a worldly grin, we collected up the records and CDs and were ready to head for the door . . . but not before thanking everyone for their good company for this week’s edition of The Blues Come Calling and promising to meet up again same time same place next week . . . . until then ‘have fun’!
