That’s it!

Listen here to this week’s Rocking Tonight:

.
Well, there was a big cheery welcome to this week’s Rocking Tonight rocking-tonight-3and a playlist full of great rocking sounds from start to finish. Despite the enticements of the excellent weather just lately, I went digging for some more rocking gems . . . and didn’t come up empty handed!

I confess to getting lured into a little selection reflecting some (but nowhere near the full catalogue) of tracks featuring guitarist, band leader and arranger Rene Hall. It started with a classic from Chan Romero and followed with Woody Thorne and Babette Bain. It could also have featured others on Rene Hall’s wall of fame including Marvin Gaye, Sam Cooke, The Impressions, Bill Withers and many more, but the selection closed with Rene himself and his 1950 RCA release . . . ‘Two Guitar Boogie’.

But, before any of those, things got kicked into high gear with Bill Haley & His Comets and a live version of Guitar Boogie Shuffle . . . after which there was no let up . . .

Starting somethingbill-haley-live
Guitar Boogie Shuffle – Bill Haley & His Comets
Sadie Lou – Woody Thorne
Hippy Hippy Shake – Chan Romero
That’s It – Babette Bain & The Rene Hall Orchestra
Two Guitar Boogie – Rene Hall
Plain Jane – Bobby Darin
Come On. Let’s Go – Guy Mitchell
You Started Something – Don Lang & His Frantic Five
Now’s The Time To Fall In Love – Cliff Richard & The Shadows

Remember then
Where were you – The Wheelsmario-bradley
So Blue – The Jades

Rock this joint
She Got Me Hypnotised – Mario Bradley
River Rock – Bob Landers & The Cough Drops
Kool Luv – Larry Hall
I Dig That Girl The Most – Ronnie Pearson
Sixteen Chicks – Joe Clay
Feels Like I’m In Love – Lew Lewis & The Twilight Trio
Stawberry Kisses – Gini Hayes
Tongue Tied – Betty McQuadelew-lewis
I’m With you – Jimmy Carvallo
Rock This Joint – Maria Vincent & The Millionaires
Farewell – The Five Willows
Bim Bam – Big Dani Perez R&B Band

The time just flew by and all too soon it was looking like time to be winding up, but there was a surprise in store, because with only one minute and 37 seconds of The Five Willows and their little 45 ‘Farewell’, there was just enough time for one more choice and it was a big favourite from The BIg Dani Perez R&B Band with that Louis Prima classic ‘Bim Bam’. So, until the next time we go Rocking Tonight . . . . remember . . . . have fun!
