Listen here to this week’s Cruising with The Commissioner:

Well, a big cheery welcome to this week’s Cruising with The Commissioner and it’s been a good week for meeting up with friendly faces and a few excellent gigs. So, our playlist for this week includes a few memories of those . . . and more.

Elkie Brooks was one of those we caught on stage and we pulled out her version of BarbaraCruising #218 Lewis’s ‘Hello Stranger’. Elkie is still going strong and sounding really good too and her performance inspired me to go back and listen to her stuff from her time with 70s band Vinegar Joe . . . great stuff! Then, there was a visit to London’s famous 100 club for a gig with Mike Sanchez and his band. He was on top form and whipping up a frenzy in next to no time and inspiring some rummaging back in the Cruising archives for a few originals from his setlist.

As if that wasn’t enough, we had a surprise from Eartha Kitt, encouraging some energetic dancing around the 50th state . . . but before then, we arrived in the Cruise Mobile with the windows down and the radio turned up, blasting out with The Ted Taylor Four and their 1960’s 45 ‘M.1.’ . . . and it rolled on from there . . .

But, all too soon, the rattling tin cans signaled the end of our cruising adventure and we arrived back safe and sound and just in time to park up the Cruise Mobile for another week. Of course, in the meantime, we’ll be occupying our time tidying up Cruise Control and digging out some juicy gems for our next adventure together. But, until the next time we call by to  go Cruising with The Commissioner, with a seat saved especially for you . . . . remember . . . . have fun!
