Listen here to this week’s show Down at Kokomo’s:

.
Well, the nights are still chilly around Kokomo’s, but there are still plenty of friendly facesRobin Kelle who head this way to have fun until the midnight hour. But then, there’s always a very warm welcome Down at Kokomo’s, with plenty of good company and fine sounds to take us through to tomorrow.

We loved bringing back that Steve Miller song ‘Abracadabra’ by Robin McKelle, along with the smooth sound of Deon Jackson and Jean Shy’s rather fine reworking of the old gospel number ‘Elija Rock’. But, it all kicked off with Wynder K Frogg (otherwise known as famed UK organist, Mick Weaver) and an invitation to see what’s behind the Green Door . . . .

Green Door – Wynder K FroggJean Shy
Abracadabra – Robin McKelle
I Can’t Go On -Deon Jackson
Elija Rock – Jean Shy
The Boy From New York City – The Ad Libs
Work Song – James Royal
Ain’t Giving Up Nothing – Al King
Here I Come Again – Mighty Sam McClain

It was good to see the floor pretty full from early on and the Al Kingdancers seemed to enjoy the mid 60s sound from the likes of The Ad Libs, as well as James Royal’s take on the Nat Adderly and Oscar Brown JR composition ‘Work Song’. But, midnight crept up on us and, all too soon, it was time to wind things up Down at Kokomo’s . . . . Miss Rosie was busy clearing the bar and tables and Jazzy G was reaching for his coat and Antoine was at the door seeing everyone out. So, thanks for your good company and we hope that we’ll see you again soon Down At Kokomo’s . . . . but until then, remember . . . . have fun!
