Cruising into 2016 . . .

Listen here to this week’s show:

.
Well, a cheery welcome to the very first Cruising with The Commissioner in 2016 and we’re here wishing you all the very best for the new year. As you can see, we’re back where we belong and clutching some very special treats to tantalise your musical taste buds. Of course, our new year’s resolution is to have even more fun in 2016 Cruising #2032band so we’re offering some new features in the show.

We started this new Cruising year with something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue. The old is our Girls & Guitars feature, the new comes from The Shake with the first of his Commissioned by The Commissioner choices, the something borrowed is our Doo Wop Stop and something blue comes from Arfa Pinetop with his bluesy, Pinetop’s Pick. This week, we’ve got another Cruising Connections, so jump aboard the Cruise Mobile and let’s go who knows where, with you know who.

Just in case you’ve missed it . . . . it’s Elvis Presley’s birthday this week. So, in our usual way, we’ve pulled out a few gems to mark the occasion. But, first we kicked off down the road with Ray Collin’s Hot Club and ‘Knock Out Boogie’, followed by The Diaboliques and something we know well by Don Gardner & Dee Dee Ford. . . . .

Our first Girls & Guitars featured of 2016 focused on blues guitarist and singer, Deborah Coleman. She was born in Portsmouth, Virginia and has been playing guitar since she was 8 years old. She says she was inspired to play guitar by hearing Jimi Hendrix and has gone on to released 9 albums to date. We chose ‘Don’t Lie To Me’ from her latest album, The Essential Deborah Coleman.

Well, there was plenty of air guitar from Mr Merlot and yours truly to accompany Eric Clapton with his rousing finale to our first Cruising adventure of 2016. Of course, we’re very much hoping that things will keep getting better through this year, including having your good company each week, when we call by in the Cruise Mobile with a seat saved especially for you. So, until the next time we go Cruising with The Commissioner . . . remember our new year’s resolution . . . have fun!
