Listen here to this week’s show:

.
Well, this week has brought plenty of surprises and welcome encounters. We’ve heard from quite a few of the Cruising Crew and some potentially tricky issues seemed to work out fine in the end. So, we were in good spirits as the time approached to go Cruising with The Commissioner and a big thanks goes out to those who’ve given us comments on the show recently and particularly Charlie Layton who liked our previous play of New Jersey doo wop group, The Four Tophatters and suggested another by them, ‘Go Baby Go’.

Our giglist this week included a session with Latin rock band Oye Santana with their repertoire of Santana material, but also some other Latin rock styled numbers including their take on Sergio Mendes’ ‘Mas Que Nada’, which we sneaked into this week’s playlist. But, despite the pleasant distractions, we (gallantly) attempted to reduce the height of the ‘pending tray’, which has crept up again to the point of being cited as a dangerous structure. So, we picked as many as we could for your listening pleasure (hopefully) and kicked offf this week’s cruise with The Five Keys and their EAP 45 from 1956, ‘My Pigeon’s Gone’ . . . . followed fast by New Orleans legend, Lee Allen, with ‘Hot Rod Special’ . . . .

Big thanks to Thom Hickey and his website ‘The Immortal Jukebox’ for prompting us to play something featuring Peter Green’s great guitar playing. http://theimmortaljukebox.com/2015/08/15/peter-green-lonnie-mack-gatemouth-brown-guitar-guitar-guitar/ Also, we went looking for an old favourite on the UK Sue Record label by The Santells thanks to Paul and his website ‘Sue Records UK’ https://suerecordsuk.wordpress.com/

Our Girls & Guitars featured focused on Australian singer and guitarist Sally-Anne Whitten, who hails from New South Wales and has developed a style that’s been described as a blend of swampy blues, R&B, southern rock and West Coast country. We chose a track titled ‘I Wish I Was In Memphis’ from her 2012 album ‘Sell My Soul’.

Don & Dewey have delivered us to the end of our playlist for this week and we were soon saying our fond farewells as we
parked up the trusty Cruise Mobile for another week. But, we’ll be back again next week, same time, same place, with a
seat saved especially for you. So, until the next time we go Cruising with The Commissioner . . . . . have fun!
