Listen here to this week’s show:

Well, if you were waiting to see if we’d turn up on time for our Cruising adventure, then so were we! But we did and we had the Cruise Mobile purring nicely, all ready to take you Cruising with The Commissioner.

If, like the Grand Duchy, your weather has become ‘unsettled’ (as the forecasters say), then we thought the least we could do was to bring you a little sunshine music. So, we found a few examples, including the Lemon Pipers, Eternity’s Children, Laura Nyro, The Byrds and Liverpool band, The Kirkbys. We even took a trip to the Caribbean for another taste of big band calypso . . . . this time from The Mighty Sparrow.

Carlos Santana was in town this week at London’s O2 Arena and we offered a small compensation if you missed them, with their fun number, ‘Foo Foo’ and The Revolutionaires were also on stage locally this week. We caught them on stage at the weekend, which inspired us to dig out their album ‘Have Love Will Travel’ and ‘Jump For Joy’ . . . . and we did . . . . but, first, we got rolling down the road apiece with Diz & the Doormen and ‘I Got It’ . . . . .

This week’s Girls & Guitars feature focused on American singer/songwriter and guitarist Michelle Malone. She’s been in the music business for over 20 years and been a member of several bands, including ‘Drag The River’, ‘Band De Soleil and ‘Low Down’. She’s produced many albums to date and we chose a track called ‘Two Horns and Two Wings’ from her 2003 album ‘Stompin’ Ground’.

As we were running out of cruising time, we had a special dispensation from our own Time Lord, Mr Merlot, so we managed to squeeze in a fine piece of New Orleans R&B, from Frankie Ford, who was celebrating his birthday this week . . . . Then it was all over, except to say our farewells and park up the Cruise Mobile until the next time we go Cruising with The Commissioner. Until then . . . . have fun!
