The Blues Come Calling - poster #2

Well, a warm welcome to this week’s edition of The Blues Come Calling . . . and if you like the blues, then you’re definitely in the right place, because we’ve got an hour of the best of the blues, right here on Miskin Radio with yours truly The Commissioner.  Our selections this week have been influenced (just a little) by some of those who we saw at one of our favourite gigs, Blues On The Meadow  and we played a preview copy of the title track of Buddy Guy’s new album, ‘Born To Play Guitar’, being released by RCA records at the end of July. But, we kicked off this week’s show with Wild Jimmy Spruill and his classic ‘Scratchin’ and we went into something from American bluesman, Albert Cummings with the title track from his 2015 album ‘The Blues Makes Me Feel So Good’ . . . .

Scratchin’ – Wild Jimmy Spruill
The Blues Makes Me Feel So Good – Albert Cummings
Please Don’t Leave Me – Big Boy Bloater
That’s What The Blues Is All About – Tim Hain
Worried Life Blues – Bob Margolin
Born To Play Guitar – Buddy Guy
You Better Slow Down – Pinetop Perkins & Willie ‘Big Eyes’ Smith
Let’s Go Upstairs – Ben Poole

Pinetop’s Pick
King Guitar – Michael Messer

Travelling Blues – Albany Down
Dorothy Mae – Gordon Smith
I Feel So Good – J.B. Lenoir
Roadhouse Rosie – Dave Hunt
The Devil In Me – Moreland & Arbuckle
Mojo Boogie – Johnny Winter

Well, all too soon, our time was running out and we were playing out with a great favourite from Johnny Winter. Then, there was nothing left to do but clear up the CDs and records, put the smiling picture of the station boss back on the wall and head for the door. But, not before wishing you a great week and hoping that we might enjoy your good company next week, same time same place . . . . when once again The Blues Come Calling. Until then, remember . h . . . . have fun!
