Killer Diller . . . . . another trip with The Commissioner

Listen to this week’s show here:

Killer Diller with The Commissioner #2 (23.08.11)

There was a surprise in store for those who tuned in to the Killer Diller show on Wireless FM this Tuesday night (23 August 2011). Instead of the cultured tones of its resident host, Johnny Alpha, there was another host . . . . The Commissioner . . . . doing some moonlighting from his Thursday night Wireless FM show, Cruising with The Commissioner, while Johnny Alpha was off somewhere exotic on a clandestine mission. The Killer Diller security pass appeared to be in order and the playlist seemed to follow the familiar style of Johnny Alpha, including many tracks that have, or might, appear on Killer Diller. . . . although no one does it better that JA himself.

We started the show (appropriately) with ‘Killer Diller’ from The Cues (a track from their album ‘Why’) . . . . . and for the rest of the evening we speculated on what exotic and seductive location Johnny Alpha was visiting and whether there might be a clue in the track from The McCoy Boys . . . . . but perhaps only The Shadow knows!

So, with enthusiasm and purposeful zeal we filled the show with fine tunes  and for the connoisseurs and the curious, here’s the playlist:

PAD – Bobby Summers
Killer Diller – The Cues
Our Man In Havana – The McCoy Boys
Don’t Treat Me This Way – Mel Anton & The Checkers
Fever – Barbara English
Taco Wagon – The De-Fenders
Straight Ahead – The Pal Studio Band
Pigmy (Part 1) – Billy Larkin & The Delegates
You Didn’t Say A Word – Yvonne Baker
Keep Your Mind On Me – The Jarmels
Love You Till The Cows Come Home – Clyde McPhatter
Cleopatra Kick – Jack LaForge
Similau – Ray McKinley & His Orchestra
Nouvelle Vague – Richard Anthony
Stack-A-Records – Tom Tall
Flip Flop Mama – Eddie Bond & The Stompers
Red Hot – Billy Riley & The Little Green Men
Blue Fire – Steve Alaimo & The Redcoats
Hey Little Woman – Sonny Till & The Orioles
Whatever Lola Wants – Della Reese
Hide Nor Hair – Ray Charles
I Really Really Love You – Jo Ann Campbell
I Can’t Take It – Ronnie Taylor
Juarez – The Hollywood Persuaders
Hoppin’ Mad – Plas Johnson
Chicken Pox – Booker T & The MGs
The Times Are Changing – Mother Tuckers Yellow Duck
Mr Rainbow – Steve Flynn
Ebony Eyes – Bob Welch
Work Song – Paul Butterfield Blues Band
That Will Never Do – Otis Rush
Ring-A-Ling – Johnny Otis

The chatroom was lively and the music quickly ate up the time. Too soon, it was the witching hour and all over, but I think we managed to squeeze in a good selection (as befits the Tuesday Night Mafia) and, if you wanted more, it will have to do as the ‘fix’ for Killer Diller regulars, until Johnny Alpha returns next week.

In the meantime, thanks for listening . . . . . and until the next time we meet, it’s adieu from The Commissioner . . . . . have fun!
